Amy Torres Presents her Poem at the Teen TEI Symposium & Showcase

Congratulations to Amy Torres, a Class of '28 SOAR Star! She was invited to present her original poetry at the Teen TEI Symposium and Showcase on August 5! At the historic Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, Torres presented her poem, *"To Clean With Bleach,"* which highlights the experiences of Hispanic women in Los Angeles' service industry. Her poem highlights the value of their labor and frames their stories as worth telling. Amy Torres is an extremely talented young writer, and the SOAR community is thrilled that her work is receiving broader attention!

This unique, teen-designed and teen-led showcase celebrates the voices and creativity of LA high school students. The showcase features work exploring the impact of women in LA. Submitted projects may focus on a specific person or take a broader approach to representing women in LA.
