Leaving Our Mark, Not Our Mess

Trash, it’s an issue that occurs everywhere, from stadiums and parks to houses and even theme parks. Those places are filled with irresponsible people who think it's okay to just throw their trash around; that's not being accountable. At SOAR, you might believe that since our school is filled with amazing students, there wouldn't be any trash. Wrong, many staff members have witnessed students leaving their trash out on tables, throwing it on the floor, or even just missing the trash can. This does not reflect our core values, as it does not show responsibility, nor does it show accountability. Here are some tips for you to make our school a better place for all!

1. Always clean up after yourself!

Be accountable for what you do! If you decide to chew on a piece of gum, don't just leave the wrapper there. Instead, you should walk to the nearest trash can and throw it away!

2. Remind peers to throw away their trash!

Sometimes peers do not take responsibility for their trash, and they decide to leave it there. A friendly reminder to do the right thing can work in marvelous ways!

3. Clean it up, even if it is not yours!

Other students can sometimes fail to show responsibility and leave without throwing their trash away. As a star, you should pick it up even if it is not yours! Even if it's just throwing away trash, you really do help strengthen our community!

4. Think before you leave!

Before leaving an area where you have eaten, you should always check to make sure you leave the area clean for other students. This also applies to classrooms. When doing work that might leave paper shreds or trash, make sure you clean it up before you leave!

5. Respect those working hard to keep your campus clean!

We have security and janitorial staff working hard every day to make sure your campus is clean for you! Help them in as many ways as possible; this can also help strengthen bonds between students and staff!

Keeping our campus clean is extremely important, as it helps reflect who we are as a community! Will YOU step up as a SOAR Star, take responsibility, and keep our school clean?
