STEM and humanities- these two groups, at a glance, may seem completely separate. However, that couldn't be further from the truth. While the subjects may be different, goals and journeys are still intertwined. See how our community shares similarities despite different majors.

STEM

Student Rebbeca Garcia, 12th, cites a reason for choosing to major in STEM as a personal interest in anatomy and biology. To achieve her goals, she is working towards acquiring her CNA, where she can learn more about anatomy and community within the medical field.

Jerome Testa, 12th, also noted an interest in the STEM field. For Testa, family bonds are what brought him towards the field. Testa is working hard to achieve his goals by networking. He is also immersing himself in the community to figure out how to involve himself.

Arts & Humanities

Junior Maya Lopez is pursuing a career in the Arts and Humanities field. She is working relentlessly to achieve her dream of being a lawyer. She seeks out as many opportunities as she could, becoming a prominent member in SOAR's Mock Trial Elective and in the Youth and Government organization.

Kylene, a sophomore, works just as hard to become a lawyer in familial or financial law. To gain as much experience as she can the field, she joined SOAR's Mock Trial elective and networks as much as she can. She talks to all her family members who are lawyers and gains insider knowledge.

Similarities Across Fields

Arts & Humanities and STEM are much more similar than they are different. While subjects may vary, themes of community, hard work, and passion are what connect us all. Differences do not define us, as we all share the same core values.
