Have you seen the pink flamingos around campus? The flamingo displays are part of a marketing project that many of the 11th graders are doing. The pink flamingo has been part of the SOAR Palmdale tradition for quite a while now, starting near the end of the 2023-2024 school year, when classrooms across campus got bombarded with pink flamingo flyers. The pink flamingo has continued to play a part in the school culture, with flyers, figures, and other things showing pink flamingos being put across campus.

Abby Green, 12th grader and the President of ASB, says that when ASB was coming up with fundraiser ideas for April Fools, they wanted to have to do so while having some fun, and Ms. Bell came up with the idea of printing out photos and hanging them in teachers' classrooms. However, ASB was not entirely sure what to print out, but then they decided on pink flamingos since they are flashy, bright, and catch attention. This April Fools joke ended up being a successful fundraiser and has now become a school tradition.

Samantha Rhodes and Caleb Rausch, both 11th graders, are working on a marketing project together involving pink flamingos. Their project is called the "FlamingoBowl", which they are doing for their English class. Rausch said the pink flamingos are beautiful to see and a good symbol. Rhodes said that the pink flamingos make our campus less bland and add color to our campus.

The pink flamingos can indeed be a fun thing to see around campus. Something that started off as an April Fool's fundraiser for ASB became a fun part of our school culture and tradition.
